A 26-year-old Pontiac woman is facing criminal charges for an alleged sexual relationship with a teenage student while she was a teacher at a Waterford Township prep school.
Jocelyn Sanroman, a former Oakside Prep Academy teacher, faces three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct against a 16-year-old male student from an alleged relationship in 2023. According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, Sanroman allegedly told another teacher that she was having sex with the teen, and that teacher subsequently informed law enforcement.
The prosecutor’s office told The Oakland Press that the alleged crimes occurred in Pontiac and the teen was Sanroman’s student at the time.
“This defendant is accused of using her position of authority to exploit a minor victim,” Prosecutor Karen McDonald stated in a news release. “These allegations represent the ultimate breach of trust placed in educators by parents and the community. As a former teacher myself, I applaud the teacher who contacted police about this situation, protecting other students from further exploitation.”
If convicted of third-degree CSC, Sanroman could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
