A fire that destroyed a house in Harvey early Sunday morning is being investigated as a possible arson, a fire official said.

Firefighters received the call for the fire in the 14800 block of South Honore Avenue at 12:20 a.m.

The official said people were living in the home and escaped uninjured.

A neighbor, who did not want to provide her name, said she was awakened by an orange light coming through her bedroom window at about 1 a.m.

A vacant lot separates her house from the one the fire destroyed, but she said she was up all night concerned about flying embers causing damage to her house.

She said firefighters stayed on the scene until dawn making sure that did not happen and that the damage was contained.
