City Council releases statement condemning Boulder attack
The Longmont City Council released a statement Friday condemning the attack in Boulder that took place on Sunday.
“We are utterly devastated by the violent attack on a peaceful vigil last Sunday in Boulder. This horrifying act targeted the Jewish community and wounded the conscience of our broader community. This heinous assault strikes at the heart of our values here in Longmont,” the statement reads. “An attack on one of our neighboring communities is an attack on all of us. What happened was not only unjustifiable violence; it was an affront to our shared values of peace, dignity, and inclusion.”
The statement, issued by the council as a whole, added that Longmont stands united in rejecting antisemitism, hate and violence in every form.
“Our strength as a society lies in our willingness to come together, despite our differences, with empathy, courage, and a shared belief in justice.”
