SEASIDE >> Sam Gleadle and Christian Volesky each collected a goal and an assist Saturday as Monterey Bay F.C. snapped a six-game winless streak with a 4-1 win over Loudoun United at Cardinale Stadium.

Since beating the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 on April 25 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the banged up Union had gone 0-2-4, including an overtime loss to defending MLS champion Los Angeles FC.

Injuries have also slowed production for the Union, who have struggled offensively, having failed to produce a goal in their two matches leading up to the game and scoring just five goals during the winless drought.

With a familiar lineup on the pitch, four different players produced goals against Loudoun United, coming within a goal of their season high of five, set back in the Union’s season-opening win over Hartford.

Dixon registered his team-leading eighth goal of the season for Monterey Bay F.C. on Gleadle’s fourth assist. Volesky added his fifth goal in the 89th minute, while assisting on Gleadle’s goal in the 33rd minute in front of 3,054 fans.

Chase Boone, last year’s leading scorer for the Union, scored his first goal of the season, which turned out to be the eventual game-winner. Sean Okoli collected his first assist of the season.

With the win, the Union improved to 3-4-5 in the United Soccer League’s Western Conference.
