It’s been about two years, but for those wanting to find solace outdoors, the Cache Creek Nature Preserve is bringing back its Yoga Under the Oaks program.
The yoga course starts at 8 a.m., Sunday, June 4, in the amphitheater of the Memorial Garden to the northeast of the Preserve’s parking area at 34199 County Road 20, Woodland. The cost is $15 per person per lesson. It will be offered each Sunday throughout the summer.
The new teacher is Christine Pollard, who has about 20 years of providing yoga instruction and has been visiting the Preserve for nearly as long.
A Hatha yoga program to connect with “breath, body, and mind” was taught previously at the Preserve in June 2021.
Under Pollard, there will be no advance sign-ups. Rather an informational page will be posted on the Conservancy’s website, www.cachecreekconservancy.org.
Pollard said, “the opportunity to share yoga with others in the sanctuary of the beautiful Cache Creek Nature Preserve is a dream come true for her.”
Her teaching style is inclusive and functional, offering movements and poses to help everybody build strength and balance, increase mobility and flexibility, and increase respiratory and somatic awareness.
She offers variations and modifications to support all abilities.
