Mark Edward Fowler, age 64, passed away suddenly from natural causes at his home in Rupert, Idaho early in the morning of April, 2025. He was born in Boulder, Colorado, in June,1960 to John and Elaine Fowler; they later divorced, and Mark grew up in Boulder, along with his mother and 2 brothers, Kenneth and David (18 months apart respectively, with Mark as the middle child) -- until he joined the U.S. Army in the 70's.
While in Boulder, he enjoyed hiking, biking, skating, fishing and, camping in the area's mountains -- all of which he also enjoyed when living in Idaho. He especially enjoyed his previous travels to Japan to visit his daughter Francis, who was stationed there with the U.S. Military -- and more recently a pleasure trip to Hawaii.
Mark served in the U.S. Army with the Corps of Engineers as well as special training on tanks, gaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He completed boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, then served in Fort Leavenworth, KS; Fort Carson, CO; Turkey; Baumholder, Germany; South America; Las Cruces, NM; and Fort Benning, GA, until retiring, at which time he joined the U.S. Army National Guard.
After his Military service, he located his residence in Rupert, where his wife is originally from. His work career extended to potato factories: Simplot and McCain's; then he began driving trucks for: C.R. England; May Trucking, Trans Trucking System Co; and WillTran Inc -- traveling through most of the states with a variety of loads.
Mark met the love of his life, Susan M. Henscheid, in Leavenworth, KS, at a mixer (dance) in December,1980, and they married in February,1982.
Mark and Susan had four children: Stephanie, Steven, Frederick, and Francis.
Mark is survived by his wife, Susan, and their children: Stephanie, Steven, Frederick (Johnna), and Francis -- Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Military; as well as his grandchildren: Ayoven; Pherric; and Jaelyn -- all of whom he dearly loved. Also surviving are his mother, Elaine Fowler and brothers, Kenneth and David (Glenda) Fowler; his step-siblings Kelly (Heather) and Michele (Mark); and half-siblings Christian (Cari) and Nichole (Andy), and their children; and his stepmother, Rae Fowler.
He is also survived by Susan's mother, Carol Henscheid; and Susan's siblings and their spouses, children, and grandchildren -- too many to name here.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Fowler, in 2004; his grandparents; his grandson, Josiah A. Hotchkiss, and his father-in-law, Jim J. Henscheid -- both in March, 2017.
Mark's funeral service was held in Rupert, at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church in May, 2025, with a brief viewing prior to the service, and with Military rites following.
We will forever remember Mark as a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
