Keys for the Vikings

• It will be important for the Vikings to establish a presence with running back Aaron Jones against a stout defensive front for the Packers. The fact that Jones is going up against his former team should provide some added motivation for him. That said, if the Vikings are going to get anything going, they’re going to need solid performances from left guard Blake Brandel and right guard Ed Ingram, as well as center Garrett Bradbury in the middle.

• Whoever the Packers start under center — whether it’s franchise quarterback Jordan Love or backup quarterback Malik Willis — the Vikings are going to need to generate a consistent pass rush. If they’re able to do that, Love or Willis could be in for a long game. That has played out in real time over the past few weeks as the Vikings have rattled offenses for the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, and Houston Texans.

Keys for the Packers

• If the Packers decide to start Love, they will need to keep him upright in the pocket as much as possible. He’s recovering from a sprained medial collateral ligament, and even if he plays, it’s hard to imagine he’ll be at 100%. If the Packers decide to start Willis, they will need to get him into a groove immediately with a combination of some quick passes and some designed runs.

• The defense for the Packers has done a tremendous job forcing turnovers this season. It seems to be a point of emphasis for new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. If the Packers can keep the trend going against veteran quarterback Sam Darnold, they will put themselves in a good position to win.
