UC Santa Cruz’s Eric Anderson and Elena Stanciu posted top-10 finishes at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at Nazareth University in Rochester, New York, on Saturday.

Anderson, a senior out of Folsom, took fourth out of 10 finalists in the men’s mile race in a season-best 4:07.72.

St. Lawrence junior Nicholas Lyndaker took first in 4:06.45. Brockport St. senior Jonathan Zavala was second in a season-best 4:06.48, and MIT senior Ziyad Hassan took third in 4:06.57.

Stanciu, a sophomore out of Washington, D.C., took 10th in the women’s mile in 5:04.75.

Seven of the 10 finalists ran personal bests, including the top three placers.

Vassar sophomore Haley Schoenegge won in 4:47.04. Williams freshman Kate Tuttle (4:48.89) took second and Connecticut College junior Grace McDonough (4:49.29) took third.

High school baseball

At Harbor 7, Watsonville 6 >> Cole McCombs stole third base and scored the decisive run on the wild throw in the sixth inning of the Pirates’ nonleague win Saturday.Winning pitcher Logan Felich gave up two hits and struck out eight batters in three innings of relief.

McCombs finished with a hit and two RBI, and Aiden Boles had two hits and two stolen bases.

Harbor (7-1) hosts North Salinas (1-2) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Soquel 6, at Westmont 3 >> Jake Escalante hit a home run and had two RBI to help the Knights remaining unbeaten in nonleague action Saturday.

Gabe Virgallito had a hit, walk, and one RBI for the Knights (7-0), and Hudson Summerrill had a hit and run scored. Connor Corlett and Brady Downs also scored for Soquel. Sam Whelen had a walk, hit, and two of the Knights’ seven stolen bases.

Winning pitcher Dane Morrison pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings with one walk and five strikeouts. Peyton Hines gave up four runs, one earned, over two innings and was tagged with the loss.

Soquel plays at Everett Alvarez (4-3) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

At Aptos 6, Menlo 1 >> Cole McGillicuddy had three hits, two RBI, and scored twice in the Mariners’ first nonleague win Saturday.

Nate Garcia had two hits and two RBI for the Mariners (1-2), and Jason Yager had two hits and one RBI. Dom Castillo doubled and scored twice, and Isaiah Work had a double and RBI.

Winning pitcher Jason Yager gave up four hits and one unearned run over five innings while striking out four batters with no walks. McGillicuddy struck out four batters in two innings of relief.

Aptos plays at St. Francis (2-3) in Watsonville on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

At SLV 5, Franklin (Stockton) 1 >> Junior Porter Boyd had three hits and two RBI and the Cougars earned their first win Saturday.

Senior Jaden Shabry had two hits, including a solo home run for the Cougars (1-3). Phil Nattrass doubled and scored, and Dominic Aguilar and Brody Egnar each had a hit and scored.

Winning pitcher Jordan Renteria gave up four hits and one unearned run over five innings.

SLV hosts Wilcox (4-4) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

College baseball

At Cabrillo 16, Hartnell 1 >> Jacob Fiorenza and Oscar Knapp each had hit four hits, four RBI, and two runs scored in the Seahawks’ Coast Conference South Division rout on Saturday. Fiorenza hit two doubles and Knapp hit one.

The Seahawks (9-13, 2-1) have exploded for 10 or more runs in six of their nine wins.

Nico Hilger had three hits, three RBI, and a run scored. Carlos Cruz had three hits and scored three runs. Jayson Schmeisser had two hits, one RBI, and scored three runs.

Winning pitcher Anders Page-Roth gave up four hits and one run over seven innings. James Wood gave up 10 hits and seven runs over 4 2/3 innings and took the loss.

Cabrillo plays at Gavilan (6-16, 1-1) on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Men’s volleyball

UCSC 3, Illinois Tech 0 >> The No. 15 Banana Slugs went 3-0 at the Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks with their 25-17, 25-18, 25-12 sweep Saturday.

Riley Norman had 10 kills for UCSC (17-5). Noy Fisher had nine kills, and David Polster had eight kills, eight digs, two assists and two aces. Caio Valente had 26 assists, and Andrew Pak had 17 assists. Marcus Donchuanchom made 10 digs.

UCSC plays at North Central College (10-5) in Naperville, Illinois, on March 26 at 5 p.m.

Women’s tennis

At UCSC 4, Vassar 3 >> Meghana Damojipurapu rallied past Macey Dowd 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, and the Banana Slugs earned a narrow team win Saturday.

Sara Beckman, Chloe Wu, and Melody Ghaffari also earned singles wins for UCSC in straight sets.

UCSC also earned a 7-0 win over American River College on Saturday.

UCSC (6-4) hosts Colorado College (3-4) on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
