Stage 1 fire restrictions lifted in foothills

Boulder County Sheriff Curtis Johnson has lifted the Stage 1 fire restrictions that were in place for western areas of unincorporated Boulder County, according to a press release.

Residents must still get permits for prescribed fires and open burning.

Crews put out garage fire on Flagstaff Road

Mountain View Fire Rescue crews responded to a garage fire at an unoccupied residence on Monday afternoon in the 8500 block of Flagstaff Road, according to Mountain View Fire Rescue spokesman Rick Tillery.

A neighbor across the valley saw smoke and called firefighters, Tillery said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Truck jackknifes, patrol car crashes on U.S. 36

The eastbound lanes of U.S. 36 were closed Wednesday morning following a crash and a semitruck that jackknifed west of Superior.

At 6:06 a.m., law enforcement was called to the scene of a semitruck that had jackknifed in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 36 near Superior. The Colorado State Patrol arrived on scene, and a second crash involved one state trooper’s car and two other cars, according to Sgt. Patrick Rice. No serious injuries were reported.

U.S. 36 eastbound lanes were closed while the crash was cleared. The Boulder-bound lanes of U.S. 36 remained open.

Celebrate Veterans Day with a parade

Longmont will celebrate Veterans Day with an annual parade through downtown and other events on Monday.

The parade will kick off at 11:11 a.m. from Longs Peak Avenue and Main Street. The procession will march south on Main Street to Fourth Avenue, then return to Longs Peak Avenue via Kimbark Street.

Longmont’s American Legion Post 32, 315 S. Bowen St., will hold three events on Monday. The Veterans Day breakfast will be from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. at Longs Peak Middle School, 1500 14th Ave. Members of the post will serve lunch after the parade for high school band members who participated. A Veterans Day dinner banquet will be served at 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Post 32.
