The Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association recently released this year’s girls soccer All-State teams, and as usual, Oakland County was well-represented with 76 players earning at least an honorable mention.

That included 17 players who made First Team All-State, three of which — Lauren DeJonckheere (Troy Athens), Emma Henry (Bloomfield Hills) and Emily Teolis (Pontiac Notre Dame Prep) — made the Dream Team.

DeJonckheere finished the season with 20 goals and 14 assists while leading the Red Hawks to the Division 1 State semifinals.

“She has been a cornerstone of our program since the day she first put on an Athens uniform,” Red Hawks head coach Jason Clark said. “Her leadership, positivity, and relentless work ethic played a critical role in our success this season and in the culture we’ve built over the years.

“On and off the field, Lauren embodies everything Athens soccer represents. She was always the first to encourage a teammate, to offer support, and to lead by example. Her influence has left a lasting impression on our returning players, who have looked to her as a role model. Lauren’s legacy is one of excellence, character, and heart — and we are better because of her.”

Henry was a two-year captain at Bloomfield Hills who will be playing for University of Detroit Mercy next year. She scored 12 goals as a midfielder and helped the Black Hawks to an undefeated regular season and the Oakland Activities Association Red Division Championship.

“Emma is one of the best players ever to come out of Bloomfield Hills. She matched her great skill and athleticism with an outstanding work ethic, grit and determination over her four year career. She continued to improve every year to make herself one of the best players in the state of Michigan this year,” Bloomfield Hills head coach Alan Zakaria said.

Teolis racked up 23 goals for Notre Dame Prep this year and 47 for her high school career, helping the Fighting Irish to a top-10 ranking in the final regular season poll. Teolis was the only representative from Division 3 on the Dream Team and one of only three players on the Dream Team not from a Division 1 school. She will be headed to Ferris State to play in the fall.

“Emily has come such a long way in the past 18 months and made a big impact on us at NDP this spring,” Fighting Irish head coach Jim Stachura said. “She has really fine-tuned her game in front of goal and is a threat anytime she gets on the ball inside 30 yards. She has the ability to take players off the dribble both left and right and is very good at finding pockets to finish in.

“On the defensive side, she was outstanding in the press to recover the ball which led to her assist total this year. Emmy still has a really high ceiling on her ability and I think she will be a quality player in the fall at Ferris State, continuing to grow under Coach Henson.”

Overall, Detroit Country Day had the most players receive All-State honors with seven players. Bloomfield Hills, Notre Dame Prep, and Rochester Adams each had a handful collect plaudits.

Country Day will also have the most returning players with All-State honors as the Yellowjackets are slated to return five players who garnered at least an Honorable Mention this year, including Jenna Shaban and Megan Mateer. Troy, Notre Dame Prep, and Bloomfield Hills Marian should each return three players from this year’s All-State teams.
