Ruth Harpole Reeder, a cherished pillar of the Arcadia community, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024. Born on May 29, 1928, Ruth's life was a tapestry of dedication and service. From her early days in Arcadia, since 1932, to her final moments, she embodied the spirit of giving. In 1948, Ruth united in marriage with William H. H. Reeder II at the Arcadia Community (Presbyterian) Church, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey of love and companionship until his passing in 2006. Her commitment to faith was evident as a lifelong member of the Arcadia Presbyterian Church, where she nurtured countless friendships and memories. Ruth's passion for education and nutrition shone brightly during her tenure as a Home Economics teacher at Temple City High School, inspiring young minds to pursue their dreams.
Ruth authored a cook book on the health benefits of using lemons, especially as a substitute for salt: A Lemon Twist: No Salt Added . A proud graduate of UC Berkeley in Nutrition, she left an indelible mark on all those she taught. Ruth's legacy continues through her loving family, including her four children, William, Wendy, Lynn, and Robert, her 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet her influence will forever resonate within the community she so dearly loved.
