Harbor High’s girls volleyball team, the defending Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League and Central Coast Section Division IV champion, held off Scotts Valley 13-25, 25-18, 17-25, 26-24, 15-11 in the teams’ league match Tuesday in Santa Cruz.

Senior outside hitter Isla Johnson had 13 kills for the Pirates. Senior outside hitter Maren O’Farrell had 10 kills and 12 digs. Senior middle blocker Sabine Kemos had nine kills, and senior setter Sandy Enriquez made 21 assists.

Junior outside hitter Hayden Smith had 19 kills, 12 digs, and six aces to pace the Falcons. Senior outside hitter Ava Morrison had 13 kills and 11 digs. Junior middle blocker Harlan Hennager had seven blocks and six kills; and junior opposite Aila Papadopoulos had nine kills and 18 digs.

On Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Harbor (9-7, 4-0) plays at Santa Cruz, and Scotts Valley (6-4, 0-3) plays at Aptos.

Santa Cruz 3, at San Lorenzo Valley 0 >> Junior Natalie Monroe made 12 kills, three aces and five digs, and the Cardinals earned a 25-17, SC 25-19, 25-14 sweep in their SCCAL match Tuesday.

Freshman Haisley Flanagan had 10 kills and seven digs for the Cardinals. Senior Shelby Leonardich had 20 digs. Freshman Irie Butler had 17 assists and sophomore Colette Huynh had 14 assists.

Outside hitter Violet Derr led the Cougars in hitting efficiency with five kills on 11 attempts and no errors.

Scotts Valley 159, at Aptos 174 >> Scotts Valley High’s Lauren Ohlsson shot 31 for medalist honors, and the Falcons beat the Mariners in the teams’ six-hole SCCAL match at Seascape Golf Club on Tuesday.

Ohlsson earned par on hole No. 2, had four bogeys and a triple-bogey.

Maisey Chard shot 34 for the Falcons (3-0). She hit the green in two shots on the par 5 third hole and made the par. She also earned par on hole No. 5.

Lizzie Goldfield (44) and Serena Sanford-Brantley (50) also scored for Scotts Valley.

Emily Fassio (38), Lemi Anastasopoulos (43), Addy Burgess (46), and Lilly McGee (47) scored for the Mariners (2-1).

San Lorenzo Valley 159, at Harbor 199 >> SLV’s Reagan Atkinson shot 33 for medalist honors, and the Cougars beat the Pirates in the teams’ six-hole SCCAL match at DeLaveaga Golf Course on Tuesday.

Sadie Bell (37), Ella Cook (44), and Sammy Shults (45) also scored for the Cougars.

Sadie Morey (49), Frances Solway (49), Sophia Brown (50) and Lulu Guy (51) scored for Harbor (0-3).

Girls tennis

At Aptos 7, SLV 0 >> Kiana Safari, Aviana Andrews, Isabella Calderon, and Gamble Kellermyer didn’t lose a game in their straight-sets victories, and the Mariners earned a sweep in their SCCAL match Tuesday.

Natalia Calderon and Charlotte Long, Gia Arista and Aracely Ritchie, and Neci Hoeptner and Julia Blevins earned doubles wins in straight sets.

Aptos (2-2, 1-0) hosts Scotts Valley on Thursday at 4 p.m.

At Scotts Valley 5, Santa Cruz 2 >> Scotts Valley swept all four singles matches in straight sets and was victorious at No. 3 doubles, also in straight sets, as the Falcons won their SCCAL match Tuesday.

In singles action, junior Aila Papadopoulos defeated Lou Ellis 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1; senior Sofia Niklaus beat Juliet Hekemian 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2; senior Erin Szymanski defeated Zosai Hayes 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 and senior Ava Keller beat Maddie McGrath 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4.

In doubles play, the Santa Cruz tandem of Julia Kennedy and Rainey Ruff defeated junior Maya Wexler and junior Riya Kuriakose 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4) at No.1. At No. 2 doubles, the Cardinals’ Kira McGlashan and Clara Weaver beat Skylar Dufour and Carmen Pitterling 6-3, 6-1. Scotts Valley senior Dillon Fiorita and sophomore Georgia Chetcuti defeated Liza Jacobson and Camille Lambert 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3.

Scotts Valley (2-1, 1-0) plays at defending league champion Aptos (2-2, 1-0) on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Soquel 7, at Harbor 0 >> Malia Martin beat Joslyn Courtney 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and he Knights earned a sweep in their SCCAL match Tuesday.

Addie Somerville won 7-6, 6-1 over Audrey Stanton at No. 2 singles. No. 1 Ayla Hymes and Lucy Federspiel, and No. 2 Camryn Jensen and Adeline Vaughn-Jones didn’t lose in game in their straight sets doubles wins.

No. 3 Sophia Arnalfo and No. 4 Kassidy Seibert won their singles matches by default, as did the No. 3 doubles team of Sydney Swanson and Sloan Dakkuri.

Girls flag football

At St. Francis 44, Watsonville 42 >> The Sharks produced the decisive score on an interception return for a touchdown in the teams’ game Tuesday.

The Wildcatz scored in the last second but didn’t convert their two-point conversion.

Quarterback Fernanda Lazo threw three touchdown passes for Watsonville. Stephanie Martinez hauled in two touchdown passes, and Brianna Leon also had a touchdown reception.

The Wildcatz’s Isa Alvarez rushed for a pair of touchdowns, including a 46-yarder. Taylor Alves also rushed for a score.

Boys water polo

Santa Cruz 19, at SLV 0 >> Pa’Kalani Saxton Vaka had six goals and two steals in the Cardinals’ SCCAL win Tuesday.

Sophomore Jace Sandman had four goals and an assist, Senior Gio Marini had two goals and three steals. Xavier Hunter had two goals and two assists, and Hayden Johnson and Robert Murphy each scored twice. Tate Wilson also scored.

Junior Nikolaus Kay made four assists.

Sophomore goalie Laird Bowser made 11 saves for the Cardinals (4-1, 1-0), who host vs Aptos on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Women’s golf

UW Whitewater Invitational >> UC Santa Cruz’s Adeline Truong took 12th place and the Banana Slugs took sixth out of 17 teams at the UW Whitewater Invitational at TPC Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin, on Tuesday.

Truong shot rounds of 76 and 80 for a 14-over-par 156 total.

Centre’s Grace Walker shot a 3-over 145 total for medalists honors and led the Colonels (611) to the team title.

Olivia Lew (159), Samantha Shaw (160), and Jiya Dalal (161) also scored for the Banana Slugs (636).

Women’s soccer

At Evergreen Valley 5, Cabrillo 0 >> The Seahawks were shutout for the fourth straight match and sixth time this season Tuesday.

Cabrillo (1-6-0) hosts San Joaquin Delta (5-3-1) in nonconference action on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
