Right now, I am ashamed of being an American

I am embarrassed, disgusted, and appalled at the way Trump and Vance treated President Zelensky! No one should treat the head of a country like that on public media. The head of a nation should be treated with deference for their position, even if one does not respect the individual. Zelensky was only expressing his opinion on Putin and the dealings he has had with him. He should not have been attacked for expressing his opinion. I am ashamed of being an American.

Upside-down flag is appropriate right now

I would like to thank the person or people who placed the upside-down flag on the second Flatiron. Very appropriate for these difficult times.

Businesses should seek private sector funding

There’s a shift in thinking I wish Boulder County would embrace. Sunday’s article (Feb. 28) on the uncertain fate of CU’s small business programs, tied to federal grants under the Trump administration, missed a key question: Why?

An associate vice chancellor said, “Those grants play a critical role in bridging companies to be more commercially successful downstream.” Some say the government should fund innovation to boost jobs and the private sector. But those grants are taxpayer money, extracted for others’ priorities. If a business needs funding, seek it in the private sector. I’d rather keep my dollars for my own goals — maybe even a business I believe in. I bet you would too.
