


The Hebron Chamber of Commerce will host a free block party from Noon to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Country Square Plaza, 814 Country Square Plaza, Hebron. Open to all ages, the event will feature: local band Working Class Zero from Noon to 3 p.m.; a cornhole tournament at 3 p.m.; a chili cook-off at 4 p.m.; AC/DC tribute band Bonfire from 4 to 7 p.m.; and an after party at 7:30 p.m. at Region Bowl, 725 Indiana 2 in Hebron. Valpo Parks Foundation challenges residents to lip sync battle
Valpo Parks Foundation will host Lip Sync Battle in the Park at 6 p.m. June 6 at Central Park Plaza, 68 N. Lafayette St., Valparaiso. The evening’s emcee is Scot MacDonald, director of Memorial Opera House. The event will consist of seven unique acts. All money raised will go to support Valpo Parks fee assistance for youth. The entertainer who raises the most money now through the end of the battle will be declared the winner. Recycling and Waste Reduction District hosts Fix-It Fair
The Recycling and Waste District of Porter County will host a free Fix-It Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 14 at the Porter County Public Library System, Valparaiso Branch, 103 Jefferson St., Valparaiso. A community-driven event focused on sustainability and skill-sharing, the Fix-It Fair is designed to help community members breathe new life into their beloved but broken items, rather than discarding them. Expert volunteers will be on hand to offer free repair services and guidance for a wide variety of items, including, but not limited to: sewing; jewelry, small appliances, IT troubleshooting and computers; electronics; clocks and lamps; and tools and small furniture. Midtown Fest, a three-day event celebrating the vibrant culture, legacy and people of Gary, will take place from June 19-21 in various locations throughout the City. All About the Girls 10th annual celebration
