Detectives are investigating the death of a man discovered inside his Pico Rivera home over the weekend.

The man had head injuries but investigators don’t know yet if he fell or someone else inflicted the injuries, sheriff’s Lt. Steve De Jong said.

Detectives are waiting for the results of the autopsy, which will determine the cause of death.

The Sheriff’s Department received a call about a man not breathing in the 9400 block of Harrell Street around 4:50 a.m. on Sunday, March 2.

Another man who lives at the home found him and called authorities, De Jong said, adding the second resident was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical reason.

The medical examiner’s office had not yet publicly identified the dead man who was described as being in his 40s.

Authorities asked anyone with information about the case to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or go to lacrimestoppers.org.
