Thursday at Salt River Fields

On the mound: Top pitching prospect Chase Dollander rebounded from a ragged, four-walk performance with a strong start on Thursday. The right-hander, battling for a spot in the starting rotation, pitched four scoreless innings, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out three. Dollander threw 59 pitches, 36 for strikes. Last Saturday against the A’s, Dollander struggled with fastball control and gave up five runs on two hits and four walks in just 1 2/3 innings.

At the plate: Veteran catcher Jacob Stallings homered in his two at-bats (his first two homers of spring) and drove in four runs. … Left fielder Nick Martini, who’s emerged as a candidate to make the final roster, rapped out three hits to raise his Cactus League average to .379. … Nolan Jones, fighting for a starting spot in the outfield, hit 1 for 2 as the designated hitter. He doubled and drove in a run. After a rough start, he’s increased his average to .263.

Injury news: No. 2 prospect Charlie Condon sustained a left wrist injury on Tuesday while diving to make a catch against the Athletics in a minor league game, according to MLB.com. Condon, selected with the third overall pick of the 2024 draft out of Georgia, signed a $9.25 million bonus with Colorado. Condon is MLB Pipeline’s No. 29 prospect overall. Last season, the outfielder/third baseman struggled during his first stint in pro baseball. He hit .180, with one home run, 11 RBIs and four stolen bases in 25 games for High-A Spokane.
