LOUISVILLE, Ky.>> Chaz Lanier and Zakai Zeigler each scored 19 points and No. 12 Tennessee held Louisville to 27% shooting in a 77-55 rout on Saturday.

The Volunteers (2-0), who shot 57%, outrebounded the Cardinals 40-26 (28 defensively) and outscored them 40-10 in the paint in the first meeting between the schools since 2018.

Tennessee led 10-0 after five minutes and several times by at least 20 points, pulling away for the last time after Louisville (1-1) closed within 47-38 early in the second half.

Zeigler made 7 of 13 from the field, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc. Lanier went 7-of-15 shooting and 3 of 6 from long range as Tennessee made 10 of 19 (53%) on 3s.

NO. 10 ARIZONA 102, OLD DOMINION 44>> Tobe Awaka had 18 points and 15 rebounds and No. 10 Arizona dominated inside the paint and on the boards in a nonconference win over Old Dominion.

Awaka, a junior forward who transferred from Tennessee, was 8 of 10 from the field and had eight of Arizona’s 24 offensive rebounds, its most in a game since 2005. Freshman Carter Bryant had 12 points and center Henri Veesaar added 10 points with nine boards for the Wildcats (2-0).

NO. 23 KENTUCKY 100, BUCKNELL 72>> Koby Brea came off the bench to score 20 points, including six three-pointers, and Jaxson Robinson added 14 as No. 23 Kentucky overwhelmed Bucknell.

The Wildcats (2-0) were cold from three-point range early in the first half, but Brea and Kerr Krissa each hit threes within 30 seconds to open up a 20-7 Kentucky lead with 13:08 left in the first half.

The Bison (2-1) were led by Ian Motta’s 18 points as the team shot just 39.7%. Josh Bascoe added 15 points.

No. 8 Baylor 72, No. 16 Arkansas>> Jayden Nunn had 16 points while Norchad Omier had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds as eighth-ranked Baylor bounced back from a blowout season-opening loss to beat No. 16 Arkansas 72-67 in Dallas.

The 1-1 Bears never trailed Saturday, five nights after their 101-63 loss to sixth-ranked Gonzaga. There were three ties, and Nunn hit go-ahead baskets each time. His 3-pointer with 15:46 left put Baylor ahead to stay.

No. 3 UConn 92, New Hampshire 53>> Alex Karaban had 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots to help No. 3 UConn beat New Hampshire 92-53 on Saturday night in Hartford, Conn.

Karaban scored four of the final six points of the first half as UConn (2-0) took a 35-24 advantage into the break. The only returning starter for the two-time defending national champions had a pair of early 3-pointers in the second half to give UConn some breathing room against the Wildcats.

WOMEN

NO. 16 WEST VIRGINIA 110, NIAGARA 41 >> Jordan Harrison scored 21 points, Sydney Shaw added 20 and No. 16 West Virginia used its defense to overwhelm Niagara 110-41 on Saturday

The Mountaineers (2-0) forced 44 turnovers, turning those into 53 points. A 49-31 rebounding advantage, including a plus-13 on the offensive end, led to 21 second-chance points and it was 66-16 on points in the paint.

NO. 23 NEBRASKA 78, SE LOUISIANA 68>> Natalie Potts scored 17 points and No. 23 Nebraska rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Southeastern Louisiana.

The Cornhuskers trailed for most of the game until Alberte Rimdal converted a three-point play and Potts hit a 3-pointer to make it 60-59 just over a minute into the fourth quarter.

After Cheyanne Daniels scored to put SE Louisiana back on top, Potts had a layup and Rimdal a 3-pointer for a 65-61 Nebraska lead.

NO. 3 USC 90, CAL POLY 35>> JuJu Watkins scored 16 points, freshman Kaleigh Heckel added 16 points off the bench and No. 3 Southern California routed Cal Poly 90-35 on Saturday in the Trojans’ home opener.

The Trojans (2-0) jumped on the Mustangs from the opening tip, taking a 40-6 lead after the opening quarter.

Sydney Bourland had 12 points and six rebounds to lead Cal Poly (1-1). Mary Carter added 11 points.
