


Hazel Crest police said they are investigating the shooting death of a 19-year-old man last week.
Police said they responded about 11:55 p.m. June 20 to the 18500 block of Michael Court for a call of a loud party.
While officers where on the scene and the party was being dispersed, they heard what was described as automatic gunfire in the area.
Multiple 911 complaints of shots fired directed officers to the 3900 block of Edgewater, police said in a news release.
Police said they found a 19-year-old man in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.
Hazel Crest police detectives and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are investigating and nobody is in custody, police said in the release.
The man shot and killed was identified as Drevantae Maurice Lewis, of the 900 block of 174th Street, by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The office said the shooting occurred in the 18050 block of Michael Court in Hazel Crest, and that Lewis suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Lewis was pronounced dead at 12:46 a.m. Saturday at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, according to the medical examiner’s office, which ruled the cause of his death as a homicide.
