Colorado is back in the win column.
The CU women’s soccer team completed its first Big 12 homestand in 14 years on a winning note Sunday, topping Kansas 1-0 at Prentup Field.
Although CU had an eight-game win streak snapped with Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Baylor, Sunday’s result extended the Buffaloes’ unbeaten streak to 10 games (9-0-1), matching the third-longest unbeaten streak in program history. The 16th-ranked Buffs improved to 10-1-1 overall and remained unbeaten in the Big 12 at 4-0-1.
Following a scoreless first half, the teams remained even until freshman Jace Holley tallied an unassisted goal early in the 81st minute. It was Holley’s fourth goal of the season.
Goalkeeper Jordan Nytes made three saves while recording her eighth shutout of the season, matching her total from 2023. It was Nytes’ 16th shutout with the Buffs and her 22nd win, giving her sole possession of fifth in team history.
CU once again played without leading scorer Shyra James, who has been in and out of the lineup in recent weeks due to an undisclosed injury. It was James’ fourth missed game over the past six, although she returned from a two-game absence on Thursday to score CU’s lone goal in the draw against Baylor.
The Buffs remain at home with a key Big 12 showdown on Saturday against TCU (1 p.m., ESPN+).
