1. DAMIEN (5-2, 2-0)

The Spartans rallied from a 24-3 deficit to pull out a thriller over Upland, winning 34-33 in double overtime after the Highlanders missed an extra point that would have sent it to a third OT. It was a gutsy win for the Spartans, who have their eyes set on the Baseline League title.

2. CHARTER OAK (6-1, 2-0)

The Chargers were the Fox Sports game of the week, and they took care of business at home as quarterback Corin Berry threw four touchdown passes in a 36-16 win over Los Osos to keep them undefeated in the Sierra League. A showdown against Bonita looms in a couple of weeks, but a hot Colony squad is next.

3. NORTHVIEW (7-0, 2-0)

The Vikings have won all of their games by 23 or more points and were dominant again last week, beating San Dimas 40-10 behind a 173 yards rushing and three touchdowns from Keanu Tauvao. It was the sixth time in seven games the Vikings have held their opponent to 10 points or less.

5. ST. PAUL (4-3, 2-0)

The Swordsmen last week faced a St. Pius X-St. Matthias team that has not won a game this season, but it was still a dangerous opponent considering the schedule St. Pius has played. St. Paul had to work four quarters to pull out a 29-20 victory to stay undefeated in the Angelus League.

6. LA HABRA (6-1, 2-0)

The Highlanders won a thriller as Christian Ramirez booted a 40-yard field goal with one second left for a dramatic 37-35 victory over Huntington Beach for their sixth straight victory. That sets the stage for Friday’s showdown against Crean Lutheran, which will likely decide the Epsilon League title.

7. MUIR (5-2, 4-0)

The Mustangs are closing in on a Pacific League title after a 50-6 win over Burroughs as quarterback Keyon Mills threw five touchdown passes. The Mustangs have allowed just nine points over their past three games and are on a five-game winning streak. They look like a completely different team after an 0-2 start.

8. LA SERNA (5-3, 2-0)

The Lancers played a tough nonleague schedule because they’ve been too good for the Del Rio League over the past few years and it showed again with an easy 56-0 win over Whittier. They have only two league games left and will play a feisty Santa Fe squad in Week 10 that could make them sweat.

9. SCHURR (6-1, 2-0)

Keppel has not won an Almont League game in more than two decades and has lost more than 100 straight league games during that span. So, Schurr, having its best season in years, was a mismatch in a 70-0 victory over the Aztecs.

10. BISHOP AMAT (2-5, 0-2)

Bishop Amat fell behind 24-0 against Loyola and rallied back, but it wasn’t good enough, falling 24-17 to the Cubs. The loss was the Lancers’ fourth in a row and put a major dent in their playoff hopes. It’s hard to imagine, but the Lancers are a loss away from facing their first back-to-back losing seasons in more than 60 years of Amat football.
