SAN JOSE >> A pedestrian who was hit by a driver six years ago in San Jose died of his injuries last week, according to authorities.
The collision happened around 5:25 p.m. on Nov. 26, 2019, in the 2000 block of Monterey Road, San Jose police Sgt. Jorge Garibay said in a news release Wednesday.
An investigation determined the pedestrian — identified only as a man — was walking eastbound across Monterey Road outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a woman driving northbound in a black 2009 Toyota sedan, Garibay said.
The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to authorities.
The man was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later stabilized and placed in a long-term care facility, where he died of his injuries on April 11, Garibay said.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity once it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.
The man’s death is being counted as the city’s 59th traffic fatality of 2019, Garibay said.
