Readers respond to Question of the Week:

What do you think of American Pope?

Pope Bob has been chosen by God and will do great things

I was born and raised a Catholic. I’m 86 and have witnessed a number of popes in my life. I have mixed thoughts about Pope Leo XIV. His career shows an interesting path to his new position. He certainly is qualified. He has the training and experience to be a great pope.

I decided to accept this in the traditional religious way. He has been chosen by God.

God influenced all the Cardinals to vote for Pope Bob. Pope Leo is the right man at this time in history. He will do great things.

Pope Leo XIV

Being raised in a hardworking lower middle class Catholic family and attending St. Genevieve in Panorama City for nine years where we were taught to admire, respect and listen to the pope.

I find it odd that the Roman Catholic Church took so long to adopt an American to be the pope.

In his role as global Catholic leader, he will provide spiritual guidance and leadership.

As he interprets church doctrine, we will learn how he promotes unity and charity, in addition to addressing moral and ethical concerns.

Pope Leo XIV is the first pope from the top five countries where the most Catholics reside!

As pope, he will continue a more liberal approach than the European popes did for centuries. There are distinct differences between the lives of individuals from the Americas and those from Europe.

He should follow what the Bible teaches.

I call this true brotherly love

I’m keeping my powder dry. I like his two brothers who call him Rob.

One said when he saw him he would give him a nuggie and tell him, “Rob, you idiot.”

Don’t know if it was the same brother who said when Leo started addressing the audience in Spanish, “Rob, stop showing off, you jerk.”

With brothers like that to keep the Rob/Leo in line I think we will be ok.
