Trump targets Dems ActBlue platform
This week the Trump administration announced that they will investigate ActBlue, the Democrat’s top fund-raising platform.
This unveiled attempt to harass and silence your political opponents is right out of the dictator’s playbook. However, it appears that Trump’s targeting of ActBlue has blown up in his face as it is being reported that political contributions to the organization surged immediately after the announcement.
Personally, I was motivated to make a contribution to the Democrats for the first time in my life.

California’s high speed rail still headed nowhere
Re “CEO: High speed rail project schedule improving” (April 25):
And this is considered news? “Improving”?
With the state of this project already in the toilet, I would like to think that the project can get any worse, but our elected officials continue to astound me.
And yet our elected officials continue to bend over backwards patting each other on the shoulder for the “good job” they are doing! Bah humbug!
Since the project has been run so poorly since its outset, the project supporters seem to think that any action is an improvement. I guess everything is relative!

50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon
Re “Having lost everything, they rebuilt lives here” (April 26):
This article is a reminder to me of the American dream I was raised with, as told to us by immigrants.
Clearly, we have policy issues with immigration in this country, but just as clearly immigrants are and always have been the fuel of the American dream.
This quotation from the last paragraph of the article resonates with me for what America offers and I hope we as a people do not lose sight of it.
“I have to say America is the land of opportunity, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t struggle,” she added. “America is the best place in the world, but it’s not easy.
“I worked hard. I went through a lot of ups and downs. Being here today with my son took a lot of hard work and dedication and determination.”
