LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE — The La Cañada Flintridge City Council unanimously selected Kim Bowman to serve as mayor and Jeanne Kim Hobson as mayor pro tem at its meeting Tuesday, city officials said.

Each July, the council designates one of its members for the roles of mayor and mayor pro tem.

Outgoing Mayor Michael Davitt reflected on his term.

“It has been an honor to serve as mayor over the past year,” Davitt said. “I am deeply grateful for the support, collaboration and resilience of our residents and my fellow council members.”

Bowman accepted the ceremonial gavel Tuesday.

“I am humbled by this opportunity to serve as mayor and look forward to working alongside my colleagues and the community to build on the city’s strong foundation,” he said.

Bowman then nominated Hobson for mayor pro tem and with no further nominations, the council again voted unanimously in favor.

Bowman is special counsel for a Los Angeles County nonprofit legal organization, where he provides free legal assistance to those harmed by natural disasters and leads the estates and probate program for low-income individuals and families. He also serves as a major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
