MENTOR Minnesota recruits caring adults to help introduce a child to new ideas and opportunities through mentoring. Here’s one of the kids who could use a mentor’s help.

First name: Cody

Age: 13

Interests: Cody is a typical teen boy who is surviving off pizza rolls and pizza (his favorite food). He also enjoys gaming, especially “Fortnite.” He is very into taking things apart (but is learning how to put them back together). He is also becoming more interested in working out. He is not very sporty, but does enjoy soccer.

Personality/Characteristics: He describes himself as “smart when I apply myself, smart, and a Hungry kid!” His mom describes him: “He’s inquisitive, energetic, can be mopey if he’s bored, talkative.”

Goals/dreams: When he grows up he has dreams of being a surgeon. If he could have three wishes he would: Become Rich, be the smartest person ever, and be super successful or famous. His guardian is looking for a mentor who can provide him a male presence to give him an outlet for some positive attention as he has five siblings between two households. He is a teen who could use an assertive adult to role model positive boundaries and help him apply his abilities in a positive way. A mentor who is techy, into coding, or focused on being healthy and staying fit would be a strong fit for this teen.
