LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers have reached agreement on a one-year contract with left-hander Alex Vesia, avoiding a hearing with their last unsigned arbitration-eligible player this winter.
Vesia had filed at $2.35 million earlier this month while the Dodgers countered at $2.05 million. The new deal will pay Vesia $2.25 million in 2025 with a club option for 2026 that could pay Vesia $3.55 million up to $3.725 million based on appearances this season.
Acquired from the Miami Marlins in February 2021 along with Kyle Hurt in a trade for reliever Dylan Flores, Vesia has emerged as the top left-handed option in the Dodgers’ bullpen. Over four seasons with the Dodgers, he is 15-10 with eight saves, a 2.57 ERA and 12.2 strikeouts per nine innings.
Last season, Vesia led the Dodgers with 67 appearances. He had a 1.76 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in that time.
Vesia made seven scoreless appearances during the Dodgers’ postseason run but missed the National League Championship Series against the New York Mets with a rib injury.
