My favorite thing this time of year is early in the morning, before people turn on their inflatable yard decorations, especially if they’ve gone way overboard. The heaps of flaccid Christmas characters collapsed all over people’s yards look like Santa’s village at Jonestown.
Senator Eddie Melton is totally correct. Gary needs another charter school like a turtle needs arthritis! The charter experiment in Gary has not worked! One appeared to work for awhile because they skimmed some of the better kids from the Gary schools. However, immediately after they expanded beyond 300 students, their performance scores dropped. The charters in Gary have only served to water down the quality of education for all students. Two examples: Enrollments in all schools are so small, you can no longer offer competitive advanced level courses and maintain a balanced budget. One teacher with 6 kids in a calculus class is extremely expensive! Football is no longer a viable sport in Gary. I could continue. The answer is not more charters. Why not put the efforts into what we already have?
Quickly editor and contributors — Let’s start 2021 on the right foot. I propose that ONLY positive, uplifting submissions are printed in the January 1st Quickly. If this is successful, we can extend it to Thanksgiving and Christmas. I was inspired to make this suggestion after reading the Scrooge-like comment in the December 25th Quickly.
Our corrupt, money grubbing, incompetent city leadership is all-in for this food and beverage taxthat keeps the obsolete corporate-owned, minimum wage staffed businesses along U.S. 30 afloat and cripples the family-owned businesses in downtown Hobart. How much more are the residents of “the friendly city” willing to tolerate? I hope some of my neighbors are willing to run and unseat some of the fools currently our city when election time comes around. I’ve got my eyes on Vinzant’s seat, personally.
The biggest complaint I see from the Democrats is that our President Trump plays golf.Congress needs to pass a law that makes it illegal for a sitting president in office to play golf. That will shut those Democrats up!
Really? $2.50 each way to cross the new Cline Avenue bridge? Why? Where on Earth are our taxes going? I’m trying to imagine a toll bridge in any other Indiana county — I can’t. I don’t have much reason to travel in that area, but I know all the roads in northern Lake County, and I will save myself some cash and never use that bridge in the future. Not many people I know are going to benefit from this white elephant.
Come on, if we are at the stage where the president is pardoning murderersemployed by his education secretary’s brother, guys who didn’t roll on him during a treason inquiry, and his son-in-law’s scumbag father, let’s not pretend we’re dealing with anything but a mobster.
President Trump is ALSO known for his illegal use of famous musician’s music during his rallies.Maybe someone should BLARE the Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get what You Want” at Mar a Lago, The White House, and anywhere else he goes during the next two weeks. I‘d be surprised if the Stones wouldn’t file a cease and desist request.
Trump had several tweets attacking the FBI in the last couple of days, but not a single one condemning the Nashville bombing.
Trump might be right for the first time when he wants bigger checks to individualsinstead of paying all these other pork barrel funds the Politicians wrote in the bill. Why could they just not pass the bill that payed the checks instead of free lunches for business and even paying foreign countries?
