LOS ALTOS >> Police on Thursday provided an update on their investigation into the deaths of two people at a home in Los Altos earlier this week, but many questions remained unanswered.

The bodies belonged to a man and a woman, the Los Altos Police Department said in the update.

The deaths are believed to have happened shortly before 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, when officers went to the home in the 200 block of West Edith Avenue to do a welfare check, according to police.

The cause of death is still under investigation, and neither the man nor the woman has been identified.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office is expected to release the identities of both individuals once they are confirmed and their next of kin is notified.

The incident is not related to any missing-person cases in the region and there is no threat to public safety, according to police.

Anyone with information related to the case can contact the Police Department at 650-947-2770 or the tip line at 650-947-2774.
