The Gophers men’s basketball team has added Maryland transfer guard Chance Stephens on Friday.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound shooting guard played in only seven games for the Terrapins last season, averaging 1.3 points in 5.3 minutes per contest. Stephens missed the 2023-24 season with an injury.

The Riverside, Calif., native started his college career at Loyola Marymount (Calif.). He averaged 6.0 points and 1.0 rebound across 17 minutes in 28 games in 2022-23. He averaged 37% from three-point range as a freshman in the West Coast Conference.

Buffalo tramples Saints, ending 5-game win streak

It was over just after it began. The Buffalo Bisons scored six runs in the top of the first inning en route to a 17-3 bludgeoning of the Saints at CHS Field.

Buffalo scored at least one run in six of nine innings in a 19-hit attack that had St. Paul wishing for another one of the rainouts that has plagued its season as the team’s five-game winning streak came to a screeching halt.

Solo home runs from Mickey Gasper and Emmanuel Rodriguez accounted for the majority of the Saints’ offense on a night that the team would like to forget.

Starting pitcher Marco Raya took the loss after allowing six earned runs on seven hits and a walk in the opening frame before he was pulled.

St. Paul fell to 18-15 on the season and hosts Buffalo again today, with first pitch scheduled for 2:07 p.m.

Devers tells Red Sox he won’t move to first base

Rafael Devers is the Boston Red Sox’s designated hitter, and he’s not interested in another position switch.

Speaking with reporters for the first time since Triston Casas was ruled out for the season after rupturing his left knee tendon and undergoing surgery, Devers said that Red Sox management approached him about the idea of filling in as Boston’s first baseman.

The three-time All-Star doesn’t see it in his best interest to make another position switch after being asked to move from third base to DH during spring training after the Red Sox signed Alex Bregman to play third.

Mitchell continues to lead at soggy Truist

Keith Mitchell followed a career-best round with a 3-under 67 and maintained a one-shot lead after two rounds of the Truist Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course.

Mitchell, who led the way with a 61 on Thursday, offset two bogeys with five birdies, including a three-hole run on Nos. 3-5, for a 12 under total.

Shane Lowry was second at 11 under after a 5-under 65, and Sepp Straka (67) was another stroke back. Defending champion Rory McIlroy shot a 3-under 67 and was tied in a large group for fourth.

Korda shares 2nd-round lead at Liberty National

Defending champion Nelly Korda hit her stride late on a long and soft Liberty National, making three birdies over her last five holes for a 4-under 68 and a share of the lead in the Mizuho Americas Open.

Rain and cloud cover made the course across the Hudson River from Manhattan play longer than ever, and that much was evident on the par-4 ninth hole.

Korda and Jeeno Thitikul each had to use fairway metals for their approach on the 429-yard hole.

Somi Lee, Andrea Lee (68) and Korda top the leaderboard at 8-under 136 midway through the tournament.

Thitikul, who had a two-shot lead at the start of the round, made four bogeys the rest of the way, including a long three-putt on the ninth, for a 73.
