The University of Colorado Boulder will hold its commencement ceremony for the class of 2024 at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Folsom Field, 2400 Colorado Ave.

The gates will open at 7 a.m. and the ceremony will last about 90 minutes. No tickets are needed and all parking will be free for the day.

Folsom Field has a clear bag policy that will be enforced at graduation.

A livestream of the event will be available starting at 8:30 a.m. by visiting colorado.edu/commencement. The link will be posted on the site the morning of the ceremony.

The university plans to award more than 9,400 degrees, according to data from April 29. That includes 6,852 bachelor’s degrees, 1,763 master’s degrees, 141 MBAs, 194 law degrees and 463 doctoral degrees.

Additional ceremonies will continue throughout campus from Thursday to Saturday. CU Boulder and all roads around the university and in Boulder are expected to be heavily impacted from graduation traffic.

To reduce traffic and parking impacts during the main ceremony, university officials suggest arriving before 7 a.m., using the Buff Bus commencement shuttle from east campus, carpooling or using an alternative mode of transportation including walking, biking or taking the bus.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is the commencement speaker. Wozniak attended CU Boulder from 1968 to 1969 before returning to California, where he co-founded Apple Computer Inc. with Steve Jobs in 1976. He holds an honorary doctorate in engineering, conferred in 1989, from CU Boulder.
