Hebron living history reenactment to honor Civil War veterans
Porter County Museum will honor the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of Civil War veterans, with a living-history event on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the historic Stagecoach Inn, located at 127 N. Main St. in Hebron. The event is presented in partnership with the Hebron Parks & Recreation Department. Admission is free of charge. The organizer of the demonstration is veteran history interpreter Ian Baker of Michigan City. “Our reenactors come from all over the Midwest,” he said. “They have spent years researching their historical roles and collecting and assembling clothing and memorabilia of the era. We will be portraying veterans as they would have appeared in the late-19th and early-20th centuries. They will have stories about their experiences as soldiers and what their lives were like in post-war America. It will be a great opportunity to learn something new about a very different time in our history. Visitors are encouraged to ask questions and interact with the interpreters.” For more information on Porter County Museum, visit pocomuse.org or find @pocomuse on social media.
