Dieter Knippel, passed away on July 29, 2024. Dieter spent most of his life serving others with a smile, most notably at The Beach and Tennis Club in Pebble Beach.
Dieter served honorably in the Army for three and a half years, where he developed a discipline that he carried throughout his life. He loved to play soccer when he was younger. He also loved to bowl. He was a devoted fan of the SF 49ers and SF Giants.
Preceded in death by his wife, Gail Knippel; mother, Erna Shaffer; stepfather, John Shaffer; brothers, Manfred and Wolfgang Knippel; and partner, Hilde Tabani. He is survived by his daughter Tracy and her husband Richard Tanner, stepson Rick Elkins and grandson Brent. He will be so missed.
There is a small service with military honors February 28 at 2:00 at the Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, 2900 Parker Flats Road Seaside, CA. 93955. Then a celebration of his life to be held at the Marina American Legion, 694 Legion Way Marina, CA. 93933. His life's journey from Berlin to the heart of California's coast, his military service, and his enduring joy in his hobbies and sports fandom paint the picture of a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
