The Gary Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly General Membership Luncheon at noon July 8 at Majestic Star Casinos, One Buffington Harbor Drive, Gary. The featured speaker, Ed Feigenbaum, will discuss the history of casino gaming in the state and its economic impact. The event is open to the public. Club to host annual Secret Gardens Tour

The Miller Beach Garden Club’s Annual Secret Gardens Tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, July 6 and 7 beginning at the Marquette Park Aquatorium, 6918 Oak Ave., Gary. The bicycle tour of the gardens will depart at 10:30 a.m. from the Aquatorium both days. The garden walk will feature six unique hidden gardens at different sites among the dunes. Box lunches and other items will be for sale at the Aquatorium Bathing Beach building. The cost of the walk is $12. Children 12 and younger are free. Tickets are available at Ayers Realty, 646 S. ‘Over the Tavern’

Theatre at the Center will begin previews for the summer stage production of Tom Dudzick’s “Over the Tavern,” a semi-autobiographical play about life in the 1950s, July 11 with opening night on July 14 and a continued run through Aug. 11 at 1040 Ridge Road, Munster. Performances are at 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; 7:30 p.m. Fridays; 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays; and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Individual ticket prices range from $42-$46. Kiwanis Club to host Corn Roast Fest

Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis will host their annual charity event, Corn Roast Fest, from 5-10 p.m. Aug. 3 at Central Park Plaza, 68 Lafayette St., Valparaiso. The music of Tusk, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band, will be featured, with EZFM opening the show. Admission is $25, which includes a brat or hot dog, chips, and a soft drink or water plus all the locally-grown and fresh-roasted corn you can eat. Children 10 and younger are free. Inside the event area there will be food trucks and a beer and wine. All net proceeds will go to support Porter County youth through school youth groups and scholarships, women and family shelters. Tickets are available at all four Valparaiso 1st Source Banks, from any Valparaiso Kiwanian, or at Eventbrite.

Valparaiso Low Vision Support Group to meet

Valparaiso Low Vision Support Group, Inc., will host two upcoming meetings: from 10-11:30 a.m. July 9 at the Banta Senior Center, 605 Beach St., Valparaiso; and from 10-11 a.m. July 23 in the Celebration Room, First Floor, Pines Village Retirement Communities, 3303 Pines Village Circle, Valparaiso. The Porter County Aging and Community Services bus provides free door-to-door rides for the legally blind, or 50-cents each way for seniors, $1 each way for all others.
