


Struggling Penguins place 2-time All-Star goaltender Tristan Jarry on waivers
PITTSBURGH>> The Pittsburgh Penguins ran out of patience waiting for two-time All-Star goaltender Tristan Jarry to emerge from a slump, placing him on waivers Wednesday ahead of a pivotal seven-game road trip that could determine the course of the rest of their season.
The 29-year-old Jarry is 8-7-4 with a 3.32 goals against average and a .886 save percentage this season for Pittsburgh, which is on the fringe of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference due in large part to subpar play in net.
Chargers coach says he will have a heart procedure and a hip replacement
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. >> Jim Harbaugh is eager to begin plotting the Los Angeles Chargers offseason strategy but first he will undergo two medical procedures.
Harbaugh said during his end-of-season remarks on Wednesday that he will “soon” have an ablation to treat an irregular heart rhythm as well as hip replacement surgery.
Hornets send center Nick Richards to Suns for guard Josh Okogie, draft picks
CHARLOTTE, N.C.>> The Phoenix Suns acquired center Nick Richards and a second-round pick in 2025 from the Charlotte Hornets for guard Josh Okogie and three future second-round draft picks.
Charlotte receives second-round draft picks from the Denver Nuggets in 2026 and 2031, in addition to a second-round draft pick from Phoenix in 2031.

Nebraska cancer patient who captured hearts with 2013 TD run, dies at 19
Jack Hoffman, the cancer patient who captured the hearts of Nebraska football fans and inspired the nation as a 7-year-old when he ran for a touchdown during the Cornhuskers’ 2013 spring game, has died at 19.
Kylie Dockter, executive director of the Team Jack Foundation, said Hoffman died of brain cancer early Wednesday at his home in Atkinson, Neb. Medical tests in October confirmed new and more aggressive tumors had developed.
Iowa State’s 30-year 3-point streak ends
Iowa State’s NCAA record streak of 945 consecutive games with a 3-pointer ended Tuesday night in a 71-58 victory over Texas Tech. The Cyclones had made a 3-pointer in every game dating back to Feb. 19, 1995, at Colorado when the school was still part of the Big Eight.
