Jenny Herold, a teacher at Eads Elementary in Munster, has received the “Inspiring Educator” award from the NWI Crossroads Chamber.

The group honored Herold at its Diamonds and Pearls Gala on Saturday, which celebrated 23 teacher nominees from schools across Northwest Indiana.

Herold received a gift basket, a monetary award and a $1,000 donation to Eads Elementary. Her selection highlighted her dedication to shaping the next generation through innovative programs and mentorship, according to a news release.

“Jenny Herold embodies the qualities of an inspiring educator,” said Eads Principal Linda Bevil. “Her commitment to students, colleagues, and the community is unmatched. We are proud to have her represent Eads Elementary and the School Town of Munster.”

Herold is co-creator of the Eads Leaders Program, credited with fostering leadership and citizenship among students by encouraging them to be respectful and responsible role models.

The program established a Community Readers initiative, which brings local professionals into classrooms to share life skills and real-world applications with students in preschool through fifth grade.

Herold also mentors aspiring teachers, sharing her passion and expertise to prepare the next generation of educators, according to the release. Her accolades include being named one of Indiana’s top 25 educators by the Indiana Department of Education and receiving Indiana University’s Armstrong Teacher of the Year Award.
