




The New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to trade veteran guard CJ McCollum, center Kelly Olynyk and a future second-round pick to the Washington Wizards for guard Jordan Poole, wing Saddiq Bey and the 40th overall pick in Thursday’s second round of the NBA Draft.
McCollum, a 12-year veteran who has averaged 19.6 points per game throughout his career, now joins his third team since 2022 after spending the bulk of his career with Portland.
Poole, a six-year veteran who has averaged 16.8 points per game, also joins his third franchise after spending his first four seasons with Golden State and the past two with the Wizards.
Trail Blazers trade Simons to Celtics late Monday >> Jrue Holiday is being traded by Boston to Portland a year after helping the Celtics win the NBA championship.
ESPN reported that the Celtics would get Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks from the Trail Blazers.
Holiday’s acquisition from the Trail Blazers in 2023 helped spark the Celtics to their NBA-record 18th title, and now he’s headed back to Portland from a Boston team that could now be in transition.

Rangers’ Bradford to have surgery >> Texas Rangers left-hander Cody Bradford will have elbow surgery after a setback during his rehab from a left elbow sprain that has kept him out all season.
Chris Young, the team’s president of baseball operations, said that Bradford felt something in his elbow when he resumed throwing after a recent flu bug. He then saw team physician Dr. Keith Meister, who will do the surgery.

Club World Cup >> Andreas Schjelderup scored in the 13th minute to give Benfica a 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich, sending the Portuguese club to the top of Group C in the Club World Cup.
The loss dropped Bayern Munich to second place in the group. Boca Juniors was eliminated from contention by the result.
Bayern suffered its first loss of the tournament as it struggled to find a rhythm ahead of the knockout stages later this week.
