The Lions activated defensive tackle Brodric Martin from injured reserve on Wednesday.
Martin, a third-round draft pick in 2023, hyperextended his knee in Detroit’s preseason finale against Pittsburgh on Aug. 24 and has remained on injured reserve ever since.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Monday that Martin has “been doing a good job” in practice.
“He’s done a solid job out there on practice squad, giving us a good look, and trying to work his craft,” Campbell said. “So I think we would like to get him on the roster here and at least have him, and then just see where it goes.”
Martin was viewed as a project in the draft and didn’t see much time in his rookie campaign. He made three appearances last season and was inactive for all three playoff games.
Additionally, the Lions signed safety Kaevon Merriweather, a Belleville native, to the practice squad and released safety Erick Hallett from the practice squad. Merriweather, who played his college ball at Iowa, went undrafted in 2023. In 25 career appearances, he has 24 tackles with one pass defense.
