Pajaro Valley High had two girls volleyball players receive special honors during all-league voting after the Grizzlies (17-10, 12-0) took first place in the Pacific Coast Athletic League’s Santa Lucia Division — the program’s first title since 2009.

Grizzlies junior outside hitter Olivia Contreras was named Offensive Player of the Year, and senior libero Aaliyah Chavez was named Defensive POY.

Oakwood junior setter/opposite Isabelle Anderson was named MVP.

Contreras finished the year with 162 kills and a 42.4 kill percentage to go along with 63 aces. Chavez made 176 digs and served 28 aces.

Pajaro Valley had three players receive first-team honors: setter Monique Ayala, Contreras and Chavez.

Kirby senior outside hitter Charlotte Nielsen also was named to the first team.

Pajaro Valley junior middle blocker Jaqueline Alvarez-Zavala, Grizzlies junior outside hitter Virginia Escobar, Kirby senior libero Lucia Nakashima, and Ceiba sophomore outside hitter/opposite Azailee Espinoza were named to the second team.

Monte Vista Christian senior outside hitter Elizabeth McCuistion was named to the all-Gabilan Division first team.

MVC senior setter Hailey Gomez was named to the second team.

Watsonville’s Daisy Cornejo was named to the all-Mission Division first team. Teammate Leslie Renteria was named to the second team.In the Gabilan Division, Carmel outside hitter Riley Immamura was named MVP, Salinas, opposite Jennifer Rivera was named Offensive Player of the Year, and King City libero Xienna Novoa was named Defensive POY.
