Wyatt Johnston scored 55 seconds into the second period and the Dallas Stars beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 Monday night to remain atop the Central Division.
Jason Robertson also scored for Dallas and Jake Oettinger stopped 27 shots in his 100th NHL game. Oettinger lost his shutout bid when Ken Johnson beat him with a backhander with 15 seconds remaining.
The Stars have won seven of their last nine games, including a 3-1-1 road trip.
CAPITALS 4, RED WINGS 3 >> Nic Dowd scored twice in 11 seconds, Dmitry Orlov had the overtime winner and Washington won its second in a row by beating visiting Detroit with Alex Ovechkin still waiting for his next major milestone.
Ovechkin, for a third consecutive game, was unable to score his 801st goal and tie Gordie Howe for second on the NHL career list. He remained stuck on 800 with Howe’s sons Mark and Marty in attendance.
BRUINS 7, PANTHERS 3 >> Patrice Bergeron scored a pair of third-period goals after Boston almost blew a 4-0 lead and the Bruins beat Florida for their 17th home victory in 19 tries.
