The Kings went toe-to-toe with their nemeses from the north Monday night.

Connor McDavid scored the only goal on his 28th birthday, and Stuart Skinner made 31 saves for the Edmonton Oilers in a 1-0 win against the Kings at Rogers Place.

McDavid deposited a sharp-angle shot off a rebound from a Darnell Nurse shot with 1:23 left in the second period.

The goaltending was solid at both ends, but Skinner outdueled the Kings’ Darcy Kuemper, who stopped 29 shots.

FLYERS 4, PANTHERS 3: Noah Cates scored two goals and Philadelphia rallied twice to beat Florida.

Garnet Hathaway and Morgan Frost also scored for Philadelphia. Sam Reinhart had two goals as Florida lost for the sixth time in nine games.

FLAMES 5, BLACKHAWKS 2: Jakob Pelletier scored two goals and added an assist, helping Calgary beat Chicago for its third consecutive victory.
