The San Francisco 49ers agreed on a deal to acquire Bryce Huff from Philadelphia after the pass rusher restructured his contract with the Eagles. The trade, reported by multiple sources, can’t be completed until after June 1 because of salary cap ramifications for the Eagles.

ESPN first reported that the teams were finalizing the deal for a Day 3 draft pick. Huff was set to make $17 million in fully guaranteed money this year and now the Eagles will pay $9.05 million of that with the 49ers on the hook for the remaining $7.95 million, according to ESPN.

The move to acquire Huff gives San Francisco another needed option at edge rusher across from star Nick Bosa and reunites Huff with Robert Saleh, who was his head coach at the New York Jets during his most productive season in 2023.

Huff had 10 sacks that season and recorded 67 pressures on just 334 pass rush snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. Huff translated that breakthrough season into a three-year, $51.1 million deal with the Eagles.

He had only 2 1/2 sacks and 23 pressures in his one season in Philadelphia, missing five games with a wrist injury. He was then a healthy scratch in the Super Bowl.

The Minnesota Vikings signed general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to a multi-year contract extension, keeping his status in sync with head coach Kevin O’Connell’s for the long term.

O’Connell’s extension was done in January, following a 14-win season. Both Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell were hired in 2022 on four-year deals. The length of their new contracts was not released by the Vikings, who are 34-17 in the regular season since they arrived. They’re 0-2 in the playoffs.

Zion Williamson is being sued by a woman describing herself as a former dating partner and who alleges the New Orleans Pelicans star committed repeated sexual violence against her.

The civil lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Thursday, identifies the plaintiff as “Jane Doe.” She claims she began dating Williamson in 2018, when he played at Duke, and alleges that he engaged in abusive behavior toward her in California, Louisiana and Texas from 2020 until their relationship ended in 2023.

Williamson’s attorney, Michael Balascio, called the claims in the lawsuit “categorically false and reckless,” and accused the plaintiff of extortion, which he said has been reported to law enforcement.
