Age 90 years old

Passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 5, 2024.

Loving wife of 64 years, LaVonne (Buerth); Scott (Jenny) Kelsey and Josie, Pam (Burns), Angie and Dan (Emily); great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Jackson, Todd, Mark (Edel), Odin and Olav.

Born to Otto and Dena Lappegaard, second oldest of 10 children, he had 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Enlisted in the Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. He then attended the University of North Dakota, where he received a Bachelor’s degree as a Civil Engineer. Retired from the Soil Conservation Service. He then went on to work an additional 20 years for the City of Oakdale as a Civil Engineer for them and was a mentor for the Engineering students at the University of Minnesota during the summers.

He was lucky to have traveled the world over with his wife LaVonne.

But, his favorite place in the world was at the family cabin in Ashby, Minnesota. Summers were spent fishing and boating with all 3 generations and in the fall and winter with his sons ice fishing.

He was cremated at Klecatsky and Sons in Eagan, Minnesota.

A Celebration of this man’s incredible life will be held January 19, 1-4 pm at the Eagan Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
