Passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on May 10, 1930 in Monroe, Michigan, to Thomas and Elsie Mc- Donald (Purdon). Bob enjoyed bridge, garden- ing, and spending time with his family. Bob’s greatest legacy lies in the countless lives he impacted as a Pediatric Ophthalmologist. Bob started his education at Albion College and graduated in 1952. He went on to the University of Michigan where he completed medical school in 1957. He did his in- ternship at Harper Hospital in Detroit from 1957 to 1958. He completed his residency at Harper Hospital and Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State Uni- versity from 1958-1961. He went on to be a Lieu- tenant Commander in the United States Navy from 1961-1963.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Navy, he joined Edmond L.

Cooper, M.D., in private practice in Pediatric Oph- thalmology. After Dr.

Cooper’s retirement, Walter S. Cukrowski, M.D. joined the practice where they practiced in Royal Oak, Michigan until Bob retired from private practice after 44 years. He was one of the first Pediatric Ophthalmologist in Michigan and was well known in his field for strabismus sur- gery. He touched the lives of countless children.

He was on staff at Beaumont Hospital- Royal Oak and Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Bob was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Rademacher) for 29 years and the late Marilynn (Jakubowski) for 32 years. Loving father of Peter (Nancy), Thomas (Linda), and Elizabeth. He is predeceased by his brother Howard McDonald, and his sister Jean Andrews. He was a devoted grandpa of Kathryn, Amanda, Kelli, Thomas, and Katie. Great-grand- father to Luke and Blaire.

A private service will be held with family. Memo- rial donations in Bob’s honor may be made to the American Red Cross, or University of Michigan Medical School.
