Joseph "Wayne" Kurlak, 90, of Redondo Beach died Thursday, April 24, 2025. Born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. He retired from the Redondo Beach Unified School District as Assistant Superintendent-Personnel in 1997 after a 40+ year career in education. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1957. He lettered in football and baseball while at USC and never stopped cheering for all of his Trojan teams. He loved the mountains, specifically Lake Tahoe. He found his "home away from home" near Donner Lake, where he spent a good portion of each year with great friends enjoying the lake and any classic wooden boats he could find. He was an avid reader and spent the rest of his leisure time as a sports fan and enjoying golf and skiing.<br><br>He is survived by his wife, Patty; daughter, Jennifer Yakubik (Ryan); and grandsons, Nathan &amp; Nicholas Yakubik. No services will be held.<br><div><br></div>
