Age 74, passed away peacefully on September 8th, 2024 in his home in Fairview, Michigan, with his loving wife by his side. Jerry was born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 8th, 1950 to the late Wilbur and Charlotte (Meharry) Hinsperger. He attended Lincoln Jr. High and graduated from Pontiac Central High School. He was very athletic and enjoyed many sports, especially football. He also had a passion for working out, even CrossFit at the age of 70. Jerry served his country proudly in Vietnam as a machine gunner in the United States Marine Corps. Jerry remained Patriotic his entire life. Jerry owned his own business, Jerry’s Sportz Bar + Grill in Pontiac, Michigan where he had grown up. After 9/11, Jerry formed a group of like minded men resulting in the formation and training of an Honor Guard, who served over a 1,000 veterans with an honorable burial. This Honor Guard participated in the Great Lakes National Cemetery Grand Opening Ceremony and then performed honorable burials every month. Jerry felt it was important to give back to the community. He graduated from Police Reserve Training at Oakland Police Academy. He became a Police Reserve Officer with Pontiac in Oakland County, Michigan. When Jerry retired, he became a Special Deputy in Oscoda County Michigan, until this past year. His strong faith led him to serve as a member of the Tri-Point Church of God with Pastor Jody Coon. He was proud to help build the pavilion, and to serve on security. He is survived by his loving wife, DeMara (DeMember) Hinsperger, his only child, his son Barron (Kelley), his grandchildren Zackary, Mackenzie, and Savanna (Alexander), and his great grandson Zander Mintari. His brother Tom (Sandy), the DeMember Family Linda Rose, Robert, Nicholas (Kyleen), Christopher (Karen) and Michael (Lori). Nieces and nephews Jeff, Joe, Kathie, Jason, Aaron, Lauren. Alyse, Alexandra, Nicole, David, Jaden, Anthony, Alyssa, and James. The Visitation will be held at Lewis E. Wint & Son’s Funeral Home (5929 S. Main Street Clarkston, MI 48346) on Thursday, September 19th at Noon. Directly to follow at 1:00pm, the Memorial Service. We will gather at Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd Holly, MI 48442), at 2:30pm for the Military Honors Ceremony. The family welcomes you to join them from 3:30-5:30pm at Parker’s Hilltop and Brewery (6110 Dixie Hwy Clarkston, MI 48346) to conclude the celebration of Jerry.
