William “Bill” Burton, beloved husband of Clara Burton, passed away July 9th at the age of 93 after a difficult month-long bout of pneumonia. Bill was predeceased by his sister Betty and leaves behind sister Frances Burton Carter and her family, his brother Robert Earl Burton, his wife Clara, his four sons and daughters-in-law, David (Phyllis), Mark (Terri), Kurt (Deena) and Glenn (Gina) Burton, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill had many proud achievements. He served as a P51 Mechanic in the Korean War and was promoted multiple times, recognized for his technical skills and leadership qualities. After the war he married the love of his life, Clara Contessa, from Massachusetts and was married for 70 years. Together they raised four boys while developing a successful career as a Real Estate Broker. He continually developed their Castro Valley home of 63 years into the wonderful property it is today.
Bill worked very hard to provide for the family, teaching his young boys the importance of astrong work ethic and other valuable life skills. Bill loved spending time with his sizable family and traveling to Italy with his wife Clara.
AFuneral Mass will be held in his honor on Wednesday, July 23rd at 10:30am at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA 94526. A reception will follow the Mass at the home of Mark and Terri Burton from noon to 3:00pm.
