The Hardin Fire in Napa County was 95% contained Wednesday, July 15, as firefighters prepare to transition the incident into patrol status, according to Cal Fire.

The wildfire has burned just under 79 acres since igniting Monday afternoon, July 13, near Hardin Road and Pope Canyon Road in the Pope Valley area, a rural region west of Lake Berryessa.

Firefighters staffed the fire Wednesday with three engines, one hand crew and one water tender with plans to scale back operations and move into patrol status on Thursday, July 16, according to Jason Clay, a Cal Fire spokesperson.

Crews stopped the fire’s advance Monday evening after it spread rapidly from an initial estimate of 2 acres to about 50 acres within an hour. By Tuesday morning, the burned area had been mapped at 79 acres.

No structures were threatened by the fire, officials said, and no evacuation orders were issued.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Hardin Fire started shortly after the Ledson Fire ignited Monday east of Santa Rosa. The Ledson Fire has also seen significant progress, reaching 80% containment Wednesday after burning 16.5 acres, according to Cal Fire.
