Notes: With seven games remaining in the regular season, the struggling Buffs (10-13, 3-8 Big 12) sit in 12th-place in the Big 12. … The Buffs’ five-game losing streak is the team’s longest since a seven-game losing streak during the COVID-delayed 2020 season (played in early 2021). … Utah (17-5, 7-4 Big 12) posted a four-set win at home against the Buffs on Sept. 29, but the Utes have lost their past four games in Boulder. … Utah is coming off a three-set loss against then-No. 13 Arizona State, which climbed to No. 11 in this week’s AVCA top 25. … The Buffs are 0-6 this season and 1-11 since the start of the 2023 season against ranked opponents. … CU begins the week ranked last in the Big 12 in points per set (15.22), opponent hitting percentage (.264), opponent kills per set (13.41), digs per set (11.53), assists per set (10.74) and kills per set (11.81). … Saturday will mark just the second matchup between the Buffs and Cincinnati. CU posted a home win against the Bearcats in 2006.
Women’s soccer
Notes: The field for the 64-team NCAA Tournament will be released on Monday (Nov. 11). CU remains clinging to the tourney bubble but a berth appears unlikely after Saturday’s 3-1 loss against No. 7 TCU in the Big 12 quarterfinals. The Buffs stood at No. 52 in Monday’s RPI rankings, seventh among Big 12 schools. … If the Buffs have played their final game, Shyra James will end her career as the program’s all-time leader in goals per game (0.52), despite not scoring in her final four appearances in an injury-shortened campaign. James owns 46 career goals, breaking the program record earlier this season, and has 99 career points, ranking second behind Taylor Kornieck (102). … With goals in each of CU’s Big 12 tournament games, forward Hope Leyba took over the team lead with seven goals this season. The seven goals are tied for the fifth-most by a sophomore in team history.
Notable
The CU cross country teams returned to the Big 12 championships on Friday, with the men finishing fifth and the women placing sixth. Tennessee transfer Dean Casey was the top men’s finisher, placing 16th overall with a personal-best 8K mark of 22 minutes, 52.8 seconds. Abbey Nechanicky was the top finisher for the women, finishing the 6K race in 20:06.12 to place 17th overall. The Buffs will compete at the NCAA Mountain Regional on Nov. 15. … The CU men’s golf team finished second at the Ka’anapali Classic in Maui, posting a team score of 36-under 816, which was the second-lowest 54-hole score in relation to par in team history. The Buffs finished the fall schedule with one tournament win and three runner-up finishes. … The CU women’s golf team completed its fall schedule by placing seventh at the Nanea Invitational.
