San Domenico pounced on rival Marin Academy for seven runs in the third inning en route to a 14-2 victory in five innings on Tuesday evening under the lights at Albert Park. Panthers ace Oliver Bennett rang up six strikeouts and held the Wildcats to four hits for the win. Bennett was 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and scored three runs for the Panthers (6-10, 2-5 BCL West).

San Domenico freshman Crosby Howard doubled and drove in two runs, while junior Colin Falconer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Jacob Pinguelo was 2-for-2 for the Wildcats (3-10, 0-6), and Reed Meyer doubled and plated a run. The teams meet again on Friday evening at Albert Park.

Boys track and field

Omar Williams had a record-setting day during Tuesday’s Bay Counties League meet at San Rafael High to propel San Domenico to a third-place overall finish.

Williams ran a personal-record 41.06 seconds to win the 300 hurdles, one of four wins for the Panthers junior during the day. Williams also set PRs to win the high jump (5-foot-10) and long jump (20’4.5”) and won the 110 hurdles (16.54),

San Domenico senior Devin Price won the 3200 in 9 minutes, 46.24 seconds, by 1.64 seconds over University’s Ben Friedland. Price earlier finished second in the 1600 in a photo finish by 0.04 second behind winner Lucas Garner of University.

Williams’ teammate on the San Domenico basketball team, Kris Jakstas, took third in the high jump (5’8”). Jakstas also ran with Niccolo Dillon, Ted Miller and Price as the Panthers finished fourth in the 4×400 relay.

Marin Academy thrower Max Dutro took fifth place in the discus with a PR of 100’8”, ahead of teammate Christopher Alvarado Gonzalez (99’4”) and San Domenico’s Ted Miller (96’), who finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Dutro also took fifth in the shot put (34’2.5”). Marin Academy placed eighth in the team scoring.

Girls track and field

Marin Academy junior Luella Shepard posted her best time of the season in the 1600 to take fifth place (5:27.31) during a solid day for the Wildcats at Tuesday’s Bay Counties League meet at San Rafael High.

Marin Academy placed seventh, with San Domenico eighth. University won both the girls and boys regular-season titles. The Bay Area Conference championship meet is scheduled for May 10 at Chabot College.

Luna Dana took sixth (13.32) in the 100. The Wildcats’ Tatum Colpitts was sixth (1:03.05) in the 400 and eighth (28.37) in the 200. Colpitts, Serena Payne, Alice Chuang and Shepard took third in the 4×400 relay.

Marin Academy’s Lara Terpins (20.96), Genesis Moo Gramajo (21.05) and Casey Nutting (21.61) placed 6-8, respectively, in the 100 hurdles and Chuang was seventh (53.16) in the 300 hurdles, with San Domenico fifth.

San Domenico junior Sarah Haskell ran a PR of 12:32.17 to place eighth in the 3200.

Marin Academy senior Esme Morrison placed second (4’8”) in the high jump, and San Domenico freshman Lily Lesser tied for seventh (4’2”). The Wildcats’ Grace Bramble was seventh (14’10”) in the long jump, with Lesser eighth (14’9.25”). Wildcats senior Jasmine Wood set a PR of 67 feet, 6 inches to place sixth in the discus, ahead of teammate Carlyn Carroll (63’10”), who took seventh.

• St. Ignatius junior Ellie McCuskey-Hay is among the athletes to be honored at the ninth annual San Francisco Italian Athletic Club High School Awards dinner on May 12. McCuskey-Hay, a San Rafael resident who also runs for the Marin Waves Track Club, is the Central Coast Section’s top-ranked athlete in the 100 and 200 meter events and the long jump.
