Bringing Music to Life invites the community to support Greeley schools by donating gently used orchestra and band instruments for its 15th annual instrument drive.
Music Depot will accept donated instruments until March 29 at 2318 W. 17th St. in Greeley.
Colorado music teachers face annual budget decreases and rising costs for supplies and instruments, posing a problem in engaging students in music programs, according to a Bringing Music to Life news release. These issues mean many students have to share instruments, creating roadblocks to practicing outside of school hours.
Since 2009, Bringing Music to Life has hosted two-week donation drives across the state, asking people to drop off their instruments at music store locations, the release said. All instruments get refurbished and then donated to school music programs. Bringing Music to Life matches the donated instruments to wishlists submitted by Colorado schools, according to the release. Music teachers then distribute the instruments in the summer.
